IMPROVING VETERINARY SKILLS LEVELS IN ROUTINE CANINE SPAYS
Canine spays are routine procedures but are not necessarily easy procedures. Even experienced vets may struggle with canine spays or feel like they can improve their technique, but may be stuck on what else to change without compromising patient safety.
Incision size: Reducing incision size without proper access or techniques to find the reproductive organs can lead to longer surgery times and may still require extending the surgical wound.
Pedicle access and ligation: Being unsure about stretching or breaking the suspensory ligament can lead to insecure ligatures and higher risk of bleeding.
Time: Trying to rush through the procedure can lead to insecure ligatures, incorrect ligation and increased risk of complications.o date.
With our Academy you will learn how to overcome these barriers and doubts and optimise your sugical technique.
THE COURSE EXPERIENCE
The Neutering Academy is an intensive and immersive learning experience lasting for 5 days in Portugal. You will be part of a small group and you will have your tutor available all to yourself when you are in surgery.
About this course
We aim to help practitioners improve their technique with all the different steps of the procedure by introducing them to practical tips and techniques to use in real-life situations
Optimising incision techniques and abdominal access, so your sutures are smaller and faster
Quickly finding and safely handling the reproductive tract, avoiding unnecessary bleeding
Releasing deep pedicles, increase pedicle exposure and safety of ligatures, so you are confident that a single ligature is safe
The Course Experience
Expert tutor for you.
You will have someone by your side that is used to high volume neutering and is there to help you if any complications arise.
Back-to-back surgeries.
You will be performing back-to-back surgeries without having to worry about anaesthetic inductions and recoveries.
Lead surgeon.
You are the lead surgeon and, when possible, the only surgeon in the procedure, so you get to do instead of assist.

TRAVEL, STAY AND MEALS
The Advanced Spay Academy takes place in Romania, just outside Bucharest. It's a 25-minute drive from Bucharest Airport (Otopeni) and your journey from the ariport to the training centre is organised by us.
We will offer you accommodation on site. You will get your own private bedroom and, whenever possible, you will also have your own private bathroom.
We will also arrange with the local restaurants to provide all meals from Sunday night to Saturday morning, including breakfast, coffee breaks, lunch and dinner.
The costs of accommodation and meals are already included in the course fee, so you don’t have to pay any extra for your meals or your stay.
How to Book a Course
This course is limited to 5 students, since we match our students by skill levels our booking process is a bit different from what you may be used to!

Have a look at the dates available and choose the one that is better for you to join the course. We usually run 1 or 2 Neutering Academies per semester.
Pre-Book
Once you know what date suits you, send us your intention to book a vacancy by leaving your details in our registration form. You can access this below on the button "REGISTRATION FORM".
Q&A session and vacancy confirmation
Once we receive your registration form, we will contact you by email or mobile phone to arrange a free Q&A session at your convenience. In this session we explain to you what to expect from the course and get a better idea of your needs and skill level, so we can match you other delegates of similar skills. We will also explain next steps should you want to go ahead with the registration.
Deposit and registration
After the Q&A session we hope you have all the information you need to make your decision. If you want to join us and we have confirmed that there is a vacancy for you, we will send a deposit request to secure your place. Once this deposit is received, your vacancy is secure.
